Galloway viking hoard goes on display in Edinburgh
A rare collection of Viking artefacts that was discovered in a Galloway field three years ago, has gone on display in Edinburgh.
The Galloway viking hoard was discovered by a metal detectorist and will be on show at the National Museum of Scotland until October.
The decision to relocate the collection to Edinburgh from its home in Kirkudbright has come under fire from local campaigners.
Dumfries and Galloway council wanted to house the hoard in Kirkcudbright to attract more tourists to the region where it was discovered, but lost the bid.
