Volunteers rally to give nature 'a helping hand'
Volunteers in Eden valley are rallying together to carry out a two-year planting programme to re-establish the Woodland Burial Area.
The Eden District Council Bereavement Services and Friends of Alston Cemetery Group will plant two types of wild flowers, to re-develop meadow grasses and attract bees and butterflies to the area.
The first type being the 'meadow collection' including:
- Ox Eye Daisy
- Birdsfoot Trefoil
- Lady’s Bedstraw
The second type including:
- Primrose
- Dog Violets
- Rock rose
Around 200 little plants are expected to be planted, enhancing the wild flower population and also in the hopes of increasing interest to the area.
