New mayor for Workington

Councillor Ann Bales was declared the new Mayor of Workington at a ceremony on Friday 26 May, at the Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre,

Cllr. Bales confirmed her chosen charities as 'Cystic Fibrosis Trust' and 'Team Isla', which she will be raising money for over her year in office.

Former mayor, Councillor Joan Wright, raised over £7000 over the year for the charity Myeloma UK.

Councillor Barbara Cannon was announced as Deputy Mayor and Nicola Bales as Mayoress, supporting the Mayor in her duties.

Guests from Workington's twin towns, Selm and Val Du Reuil in France were also in attendance, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning.
