Friends of the Lake District are carrying out a survey of Cumbria's village greens to see if they need better protection.

There are more than 200 in Cumbria, and the group says they're one of the county's most precious historical assets.

We would like to find out if people value their local greens or about any difficulties associated with them. We need the help of the public to establish if support is needed for communities to better manage, enjoy or protect their town or village greens.

If the survey findings show that there is a need for more support for communities with their town and village greens, then we can work to develop ways of providing this.
