Repairs to major Lake District route A591 begin
Highways England will begin to repair the important road today. Parts of the A591 collapsed after becoming badly damaged in December's storms.
A591 repairs due to begin today
Construction work to repair one of the main roads in the Lake District is due to start today.
The A591, which links Grasmere and Keswick, was badly damaged in December's storms.
A 22-tonne excavator will be used to build a new concrete retaining wall in the beck at the side of the collapsed road.
