Plans to curb the 'Penrith Pong' rejected by Eden Council
A new plan, designed to stop the smell known as the Penrith Pong, has been rejected because of the impact on the countryside.
Eden councillors went to visit the Omega Proteins site, just outside Penrith, this morning before making their decision.
The company wanted to spend £850,000 on a large store for lorries entering the animal rendering plant.
In Penrith people say something needs to be done to stop the smell.
