Boost for Carlisle announced in Chancellor's spending review

Chancellor George Osborne's Spending Review took many people in the region by surprise.

Carlisle has been named an Enterprise Zone, which could bring thousands of jobs to the area.

Proposed cuts to tax credits have also been scrapped, and the Chancellor says there will be NO further cuts to the police budget.

Kingmoor Park to become Enterprise Zone

Kingmoor Park's bid to become an Enterprise Zone has been successful, Chancellor George Osborne announced in his Spending Review today.

Here is what you need to know about the business park:

It is a former RAF site, will two million square feet of office space available.

It is already home to around 100 businesses supporting 2,000 job.

Another 3,000 jobs could be created when it becomes an Enterprise Zone, from April 2016.
