Police are currently investigating a report of armed robbery in Frizington.

Armed police officers have been deployed to the area and a search is underway for the offender.

He is described as a being 5ft 9/10 tall, of slim build and was wearing black jogging pants and a black sweatshirt. He was also wearing a mask.

Police were called at 6.17am this morning with a report of a member of staff being threatened with a firearm at the Post Office on Main Street.

She was not hurt but obviously left distressed by the incident.

The offender left the scene with an amount of cash.

We take all incidents involving a firearm with the utmost seriousness, and have a number of resources in the area searching for this offender.

We do not believe there to be any threat to the public at this time.
