World's oldest post office starts 2015 with a new owner

The world's oldest post office is set to have a new owner in the New Year.

The post office, in Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway, is more than 300-years-old, will be taken over by postal historian Dr Manzoor Alam.

He will become the 16th postmaster to run the branch since it opened in 1712.
