Attempt to topple 27-year-old world record

A fell runner from Keswick has vowed to become the first person to challenge the record for running all 214 Wainwright peaks, a challenge that has only been completed once before.

Steve Birkinshaw has been in training everyday, getting ready for the week-long challenge.

The record's currently held by local fell running legend Joss Naylor. He did it in seven days, one hour and 25 minutes. Steve's hoping to shave 11 hours off that time.

Joss has given his blessing to this attempt to topple the title he's held for 27 years.

Steve's raising money for multiple sclerosis charities. Supporters can follow his live tracker and there's a map of his route too.
