British Rally Championship comes to Carlisle

More than 125 cars are arriving in Carlisle for the first round of the British Rally Championship. On Saturday they will tackle stags in Kielder and on Sunday they will rally around the forests of Kershope.

Rally drivers arrive in Carlisle

More than 125 drivers have entered the Pirelli rally Credit: ITV News Border

Around 70 rally cars are arriving in Carlisle today for the first round of the British Rally Championship.

The cars and drivers will be in Carlisle city centre from 9.30am. The Mayor will then wave them over the start line at the Old Town Hal at 10.30am.

The drivers will make their way out towards Kielder where they will tackle six forest stages before returning back to rally HQ at Brunton Park.
