Reward offered to trace missing Dumfries statue

Police Scotland are offering a reward for the recovery of a sculpture that was stolen in Dumfries and Galloway in October of last year.

The Standing Figure - a seven feet tall bronze sculpture by Henry Moore - was taken from the Glenkiln Sculpture Park on the Lincliden estate in Shawhead.

The sculpture was stolen sometime between Thursday 10 and Friday 11 October 2013 and as yet has not been traced.

Speaking about the investigation Detective Sergeant Scott Young of Police Scotland said:

“Throughout this enquiry the investigating officers have kept the owner of the sculpture, Sir Henry Keswick, fully appraised of all developments.

"A substantial reward has now been offered, which is subject to very strict conditions, for the recovery of The Standing Figure and conviction of those involved in its theft.

"We are keeping an open mind in relation to the theft and again ask that anyone who has any information about the theft should contact Police Scotland through 101, asking to speak to Detective Scott Young, Dumfries and Galloway Division."
