Life savers get funding

Lifeboat volunteers have won a grant of more than two hundred thousand pounds to buy a new boat and build a new lifeboat shed. The group at Port William in Dumfries and Galloway is receiving the money from the European Fisheries Fund.

Full Report: Funding grant for Port William lifeboat service

Over £200,000 has been granted to the Port William Inshore Rescue Service to help them improve their facilities.

The project run by volunteers, relies on support from the local community, and now they'll be able to fully comply with standards set by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The money was granted by the Dumfries and Galloway European Fisheries Fund, and it will go towards a new boat and boatshed, as Fiona McIlwraith reports.
