Future of MOD Longtown
Defence Minister Philip Dunne has been meeting councillors at the Longtown MOD site to discuss the future of the site. It was previously announced that the site would remain open, but that a number of jobs would be lost.
Future of MOD Longtown up for discussion
Cumbria County Council are in talks with potential investors, keen to re-develop some of the land at the MOD depot in Longtown.
It was saved from closure yesterday, although the MOD is reducing the size of the depot with the loss of 53 jobs.
The county council says a number of companies are keen to buy land when it become available.
