A66 near Penrith reopens after fire

The A66 westbound has reopened this morning after a fire on a crane travelling on the back of a lorry.

The road between the B6542 and the A6 Kemplay Bank/ A686 Carleton Avenue (Kemplay Bank Roundabout) was closed for emergency repairs after the blaze on Sunday, July 28.

Police say the crane has now been recovered and the road has been resurfaced.
