A66 reopens after fire

The A66 near Penrith will be closed this evening as recovery work begins to remove a mobile crane, which caught fire yesterday, July 28.
It happened between the B6542 and the A6 Kemplay Bank / A686 Carleton Avenue (Kemplay Bank Roundabout).
Lane one (of two) remains closed heading towards Penrith. Police have advised that the crane cannot be recovered until this evening, July 29.
The road will be repaired and is expected to fully reopen by tomorrow morning.
