The dig has already uncovered thousands of significant finds and hidden treasures from the former Roman Empire. 

Archeological dig returns to Carlisle to unearth mysteries of Roman bathhouse

More than 30 semi-precious stones, lost in a Roman bath house 1,800 years ago, have been found as part of an archaeological dig in Carlisle.

The rare archaeological object is thought to be the only one of its type in the Roman Empire.

Uncovering Roman Carlisle was recognised in the Archaeological Achievement Awards.

The excavation at Carlisle Cricket Club will take place between Saturday 28 October and Saturday 4 November.

The discovery of the Roman heads have been described as 'finds of a lifetime.'

The excavation has been expanded allowing for more volunteers to take part. 

They are working on a dig at Carlisle Cricket Club, which was first uncovered in 2017.
