Update: Road closures in Cumbria
There are a number of roads which have been closed across Cumbria due to flooding.
The remaining road closures are:
- Holmrook - A595 Holmrook Bridge
- Thornhill - B5345 Kersey Bridge
Drivers are advised not to drive through flood water and find an alternative route.
A595 reopens between Carlisle and Cockermouth
The A595 has reopened at Thursby and Red Dial, after it was closed earlier today due to flooding.

Four new flood warnings issued for region
Four new flood warnings have been issued for Cockermouth and Egremont by the Environment Agency.
It brings the total number of flood warnings in the region up to six, with 18 flood alerts:
- River Cocker at Southwaite Bridge, Cockermouth
- Four warnings in Egremont
- Keswick Campsite
Cockermouth flood gates close and residents set up their defences
Residents in Cockermouth are setting up flood defences, as water levels rise in the surrounding area.
The Environment Agency has closed the flood gates on the River Cocker.
Flood warnings issued for Egremont and Keswick
Two flood warnings have been issued in Cumbria, on top of the less severe 18 flood alerts already in place.
The warnings are in effect at Keswick campsite and the area surrounding the River Ehen in Egremont.
A warning means flooding is expected and immediate action is required.
Rail services cancelled and delayed
A number of rail services in Cumbria are delayed or cancelled due to heavy rain causing flooding in the county.
Trains between Carlisle and Maryport are cancelled, with a road replacement service in place.
Trains on the West Coast mainline could be delayed up to 60 minutes due to a speed restriction near Oxenholme.
National Rail says the disruption is expected to last until 6.00pm.

Heavy rain has caused flooding on numerous roads across Cumbria.

- A595 High House Road – St Bees to A595
- Blennerhasset and Baggrow
- Frizington to Lamplugh
- Egremont Bridge and Forge Bridge near Eskdale
