Soldiers who helped to build a temporary bridge in Workington, after the town was devastated by floods in 2009, have returned for the first time.

The bridge was called Barker Crossing, in honour of PC Bill Barker, who died in the floods.

Soldiers who were involved in building a temporary footbridge in Workington after the floods of 2009 are returning to the town for the first time.

People were unable to cross the river for 18 days after all the bridges were either damaged or washed away.

It was named the Barker Crossing after the police officer who died in the floods.
