A66 shut in both directions and Wrynose Pass closed after six vehicles stuck on ice
The A66 is closed in both directions and motorists in Cumbria have been asked by police not to travel unless they have to after heavy snowfall hit the region overnight.
It comes as an amber weather warning is in place for Cumbria due to the snow.
Eden Police were called to support Kendal officers at Wrynose Pass after six vehicles got stuck on ice on Saturday 4 January.
The pass, alongside Hardknott Pass has been closed due to the weather conditions and drivers are still urged to take care on the roads.
The force said today that any motorists who are stuck could be on their own for a while as it is difficult for officers to travel to incidents in the snow and ice.
