Motorcyclist dies in A68 crash in the Scottish Borders

A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the A68 in the Scottish Borders.

The incident took place shortly after 4:10pm, near Carter Bar, on Tuesday between the border and the junction of A60588.

The 72-year-old man was riding a Honda motorbike when he was involved in collision with a Renault Trafic van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Inspector Brenda Sinclair, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this time."We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances and would urge anyone with information who has not already spoken to police to make contact."Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 2174 of 28 July."
