Man airlifted to hospital after crash on A66 at Portinscale
One man has been airlifted to hospital after a crash between a car and a lorry on one of the main roads leading into the Lake District.
Cumbria Police closed off the A66 after a collision at the Portinscale turn-off, near Keswick, at 11am.
Fire crews from Cockermouth and Keswick attended the scene, cutting one person free from a car using two sets of hydraulic cutting equipment.
He was then transferred over to the North West Ambulance Service who airlifted the man to hospital.
The road remains was closed for a number of hours in both directions, between the Crosthwaite Roundabout and the Portinscale Junction.
