Cyclist wears knitted boobs to raise money for breastfeeding support groups
A cyclist from Windermere is completing his daily exercise with two brightly-coloured knitted boobs tucked in his jersey.
Andy Bruce is trying to raise money for breastfeeding support groups after his original plans to cycle from Lands' End to John O'Groats were cancelled because of the pandemic.
He said: "All my cycling holidays that I'm running this year have been cancelled but I still need to cycle for my own sanity so instead of the Land's End to John O'Groats trip that I was due to run, I'm cycling for 15 days and taking these fabulous knitted boobies to help raise funds for a local and national breastfeeding charity.
"When I started this the weather was slightly hotter than this and they did get a bit on the warm side."
Andy is hoping to raise a thousand pounds for South Cumbria Breastfeeding Support - a lifeline for new mum Alicia from Kendal.
Alicia said: "My Mum lives around the corner but, obviously, she can't come and help when I've got difficulties. I'm a first-time Mum, I have no idea what I'm doing, so it's so important to have this little community."
Andy has seen first hand what the charity does because his wife Ann works and volunteers as a Lactation consultant.
Ann said: "Breastfeeding is natural. It is what humans are designed to do but just because something's natural it doesn't mean that it's easy for everyone and particularly now in lockdown it can be particularly challenging and anxiety-provoking."
His knitwear is raising smiles as well as money in these bizarre times.
