Diary of a doctor: GP puts retirement on hold to help on Covid-19 frontline
A GP from Cumbria has put his retirement on hold to help on the coronavirus frontline.
Ashley Liston was due to leave his practice in the Eden Valley at the end of March but has continued to work at a red centre in Whitehaven, West Cumbria.
To show what a typical week is like working in the centre, Dr Liston has recorded a video diary.
What is a 'Red Centre?'
During the current COVID-19 outbreak, patients experiencing certain symptoms who have been telephone-assessed by a GP to need a face-to-face examination will be called to a local 'Red Hub' to be assessed in person.
The hubs are only accessible via appointment and will only see patients who have been directed there by a GP after assessment by NHS 111.
