Teenager's 'doorstep photos' capture life in lockdown
A teenager from west Cumbria is using his daily exercise to raise money for the NHS by taking keepsake photos of people on their doorsteps.
Budding photographer Kaiden Meloy, from Whitehaven, is asking for donations for the West Cumberland Hospital in return for his pictures.
The snapshot of people's lives is to be kept as a memory of when life changed - if only for awhile.
And all the St benedicts Catholic High School pupil asks for in return is a donation to the West Cumberland Hospital - just a few roads away.
Kaiden said: "I just seen it on facebook and other people were doing it around Cumbria and I thought we needed it here to help our local area to raise money."
Kaiden has had so many requests already that he is having to pace himself to make sure he gets round to everyone.
One of his customers said: "It's just a keepsake to look back on remember this crazy time that we are all in really. To be able to look back and think while we were all locked down we had good memories."
His mum Amie says she is extremely proud of what her son has achieved. She said: "He is always really keen to get involved in something that helps people. He has done cake sales at school, he is always looking for the next thing to help out so we couldn't be prouder.
"It has been a fast response and he has been keen to keep it going and now it has gained momentum, he's keen to keep it going and raise as much money as he can. We are super proud of him."
Kaiden will continue to take photos for as long as there is a demand, proving a picture perfect way of remembering the spring when everyone was told to stay home.
