'Much loved' nurse dies of coronavirus in Scottish Borders
A "much loved" nurse from the Scottish Borders has died from coronavirus in the hospital where she worked.
Angie Cunningham passed away on Wednesday after being treated for Covid-19 in the intensive care unit in Borders General Hospital.
She worked for NHS Borders for more than three decades and is being remembered by colleagues as a "much respected" member of the team who was "proud to be a nurse".
A joint statement has been released by the trust and the family of Angie, they said: ""It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear family member and colleague Angie Cunningham on Wednesday from COVID-19 in the Intensive Care Unit at the Borders General Hospital.
"Angie was a much loved wife, mother, sister, granny and great granny, as well as a friend to many more.
"Angie worked in NHS Borders for over 30 years and during this time was a much respected and valued colleague within the hospital, providing amazing care to patients. She was very proud to be a nurse alongside her love for her family.
"We ask that you respect the privacy of all involved at this time."
