Cumbrian couple host virtual wedding live from their living room

A couple from Cumbria exchanged wedding rings in front of friends and family despite the ceremony being called off.

Helen Thwaite and Steven Graham, from Workington, were ready to tie the knot in Kendal on 3 April, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead they came up with a way of marking the special day by gathering their loved ones together on the internet and hosting a virtual ceremony from their living room.

The couple streamed the special occasion live on Facebook, with friends and family joining in to watch. With their daughter Emma, who lives with them at home, acting as Minister, they exchanged rings.

Their guests dressed up for the occasion and had buffet food and drinks.

Helen and Steven, who have been together for 13 years, are still going ahead with their wedding at some point in the future and are now planning an even bigger celebration.

For now, they have combined their surnames and are referring to themselves as Mr and Mr Grahamthwaite. Congratulations!
