Borders health centre closes after staff member tests positive for virus
A health centre in the Scottish Borders has closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
Bosses at Hay Lodge Health Centre in Peebles made the decision to close the doors of the practice over the weekend.
As of Monday 16 March, all appointments are cancelled.
A spokesperson from NHS Borders said: “Tweed and Neidpath GP Practices at Hay Lodge Health Centre have introduced temporary arrangements for providing services.
"Patients should not attend the surgery in person. If you have an appointment booked, with either a GP or Practice Nurse, please do not attend the health centre. A member of staff will attempt to contact you by phone to discuss your requirements.
Please only contact the GP Practices with any urgent queries. If you require an urgent medical assessment, please contact these practices by telephone, staff will assess you over the phone and make arrangements where necessary.
Please note: GP Practices do not offer Coronavirus screening. If you have mild symptoms, please stay at home and get well with fluids, rest and paracetamol. Please use nhsinform.scot/coronavirus as your first source of information. You should only call your GP Practice or NHS 24 on 111 (out of hours) if your symptoms worsen and you become seriously unwell.”
