Coronavirus: Wigtown Big Bang Weekend called off
It's been announced that another one of the region's popular festivals has been cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Big Bang Dark Skies Festival, which was due to take place in Wigtown from April 3-5, has been called off amid concerns about the spread of the virus.
Adrian Turpin, the company’s Artistic Director, said: “With the number of Covid-19 cases increasing, and uncertainty over how matters will develop, we agreed that a precautionary approach was best for this particular event.
“Tickets have only recently gone on sale, so by acting immediately we also hope to minimise disappointment.”
Organisers will review the situation later in the year but the science festival could skip 2020 altogether.
