Engineering firm Jacobs to create hundreds of jobs in Cumbria

An engineering firm, which has a base in Cumbria, says it will create more than 400 jobs over the next year.

Jacobs announced that they have completed a £250 million deal with the John Wood Group to expand their work.

It's one of the area’s biggest employers, with 600 workers already in the region.

The company say the additional staff will help continue their work on a range of west-Cumbria based nuclear projects.

Jacobs Chair and CEO Steve Demetriou said: “With our shared values, technical heritage and global reach, we are combining complementary capabilities to deliver high value, differentiated nuclear and defence solutions for our clients and greater opportunities for our people across our diverse portfolio."

The company announced in November 2019 that they were creating more than 2,400 jobs spread across 30 offices in the UK.
