Kurdish refugee shares her culture at Carlisle event

Shireen Hama fled her home in Syria as a teenager and has made Carlisle her home.

She lived in the Kurdish city Amuda on the Syrian/Turkish border before being sent to live here in Cumbria.

Now in her 20s she spoke to a gathered audience at Carlisle's city centre library about her culture.

The event was a joint venture by AWAZ and the library ahead of the celebration of the Kurdish/Persian new year Nowruz in March.
