Star-studded line-up for Big Burns Supper festival

Dumfries is gearing up to celebrate its most famous son with the annual Big Burns Supper arts festival.

The event will be launched tonight with a carnival on the Whitesands, including a performance from American blues musician and four-time Grammy Award winner, Keb Mo. The parade will feature performers form the festival's Moulin Rouge themed show.

This is the ninth year that Dumfries has hosted the Big Burns Supper which features eleven days of comedy, cabaret, carnival and music wrapped round Robert Burns' birthday.

This year's festival includes performances from some of the biggest names in music including folk pop troubadour Newton Faulkner, noughties rockers Turin Breaks and electronic specialists Morcheeba.
