US events mark 31 years since Lockerbie bombing
Services have taken place in the United States to mark the 31st anniversary of the Lockerbie bombing.
Pan Am flight 103 was on its way from London to New York when it exploded above Lockerbie on the evening of December 21 1988, killing 259 people on board and 11 people on the ground.
190 of the victims were US citizens, 35 of whom were students at Syracuse University in New York State, travelling home for the Christmas holidays.
The victims are honoured by "remembrance scholars" at the university. A service was held at the university chapel, followed by a procession at the Wall of Remembrance.
Memorial services took place at Syracuse and at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. Wreaths were also laid in Lockerbie.
