Carlisle broadcaster awarded Honorary Fellowship by University of Cumbria

A well-known food critic from Carlisle has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Cumbria.

Broadcaster, author and columnist Grace Dent, who is best known for her appearance as a judge on MasterChef, attended a ceremony at the city's cathedral.

Alongside Cumbrian land management figures Alan Bowe and Giles Mounsey-Heysham, Dent was made an Honorary Fellow in recognition of her outstanding and lifelong contributions to the media industry.

Dent is a restaurant critic for The Guardian and wrote a restaurant column for the Evening Standard between the 2011-2017.

An Honorary Fellowship is a highly prestigious award which a university can award on an annual basis to renowned individuals who have a connection with the institute.
