West Cumbrian beaches praised for 'excellent' water quality
Two of Copeland's beaches have 'excellent' water quality, according to the latest Defra ratings.
St Bees and Silecroft were given the top grading following Environment Agency tests carried out between May and September.
Meanwhile Seascale was graded 'good' and Haverigg 'sufficient'.
The results mean water at the beaches is clean enough for swimming and other leisure activities.
The annual rating is based on an average over four years.
