WATCH: Street rally in Hawick to raise awareness of violence against women

Protestors have held a rally in Hawick to raise awareness of violence against women.

Latest figures show incidents of domestic abuse and sexual assault in the Borders are on the rise and some support services in the region say they can't keep up with demand.

Our reporter Clare McNeill was at the march.

If you have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse a range of help and support is available.

  • Refuge is the UK’s largest single provider of specialist accommodation and support to women and children escaping domestic violence. The charity runs a 24-hour national helpline operating seven days a week.

  • Scottish Borders Rape Crisis Centre offers practical and emotional support and information to all women and girls over 12 years old in the Scottish Borders who have experienced rape or sexual violence at any time in their life.

  • Women's Aid provides support to women and children experiencing domestic violence.
