Lorry driver dies and man critically injured in two separate motorway crashes
A lorry driver has died and another motorist is critically injured after two separate crashes on the A74(M) in southern Scotland.
The fatal accident happened at around 5:45am when a northbound vehicle hit the central reservation and left the road close to the Lockerbie junction.
Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and officers want to hear from two men in a white Mercedes Sprinter-type van that stopped at the crash site.
Shortly after 10am a collision involving a lorry and van near Eaglesfield left a 34-year-old man driving the van with serious injuries.
The first incident saw the road shut northbound for about four hours for a crash scene investigation and to recover the lorry involved.
