Paralysed cyclist turns off ventilator, aged 60
A Cumbrian cyclist who was left paralysed from the neck down after a catastrophic crash has died.
60-year-old Michael Bonney suffered a serious spinal injury after falling off his bike in 2013.
He was left tetraplegic, reliant on a ventilator to help him breathe and requiring 24/7 care. Last week he decided to switch off his life-support. He died on Saturday.
In his post, Michael asked: "No flowers please, donations to Hospice at Home charity and Eden Animal Rescue. The balance of the Trust fund is being donated to Remap charity."
