Heavy rain brings disruption to region's roads and railways
Heavy rain has brought widespread disruption to the region's road and rail network with flood alerts and warnings in place.
Routes affected include the A6 in Carlisle near junction 42 of the M6, the A69 between Warwick Bridge and Brampton and the A595 at Red Dial
On the railways, a landslip at Wetheral has led to the cancellation of all services between Carlisle and Haltwhistle with bus replacements running while the line remains closed.
And the Cumbrian Coast line has also been hit by flooding around the Aspatria area.
Five flood warnings - meaning immediate action is required - are in place in Cumbria including the River Caldew at Cummersdale between Dalston and Carlisle and Wiza Beck and Black Beck at Wigton.
North of the Border a flood alert has been issued for Dumfries and Galloway with flooding of low-lying coastal areas and roads possible.
Fire crews and council highways teams say they have attended various flood-related incidents this morning including pumping water out of homes in Carlisle's Vallam Close.
