Start press! Community paper re-launches after 170 years

A community newspaper in Dumfries and Galloway is re-launching after being out of circulation for almost 170 years.

The Castle Douglas Journal was first published in the 1850s. The digital age has seen many local newspapers disappear, but editors of the new look publication, hope their focus on celebrating life in the town and surrounding areas, with features on local people, places and events - will get people turning pages again.

It will be published bi-monthly for a six month pilot.
