Hundreds of 'the world's cutest sheep' go on show in Carlisle
A rare type of sheep dubbed "the cutest in the world" are now thriving in our region - having becoming the fastest growing sheep breed in the UK.
The Valais Blacknose are originally from the Swiss Alps - and are characterised by their thick coarse wool and dark wooly faces.
More than 200 have been brought to an annual event in Carlisle by the Valais Blacknose Sheep Association.
It's the largest show yet.
Organisers help the area will become a centralised spot to spread awareness and share knowledge about this rare breed.
There are now around 1500 ewes in the UK, with Swiss farming practices being adopted, such as two shearings a year.
The Chair of the Valais Blacknose Sheep Association said there was "huge potential" in the breed.
