Major search operation after man reported missing in River Kent

A large-scale search has been launched after reports of a man missing in the River Kent.

Police responded to a call at 6:30am on 11 August after concern for the safety of a man and a woman in the water at Sedgwick, near Kendal.

They were able to find the woman who was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and has since been discharged.

The North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Mountain Rescue, Bay Search and Rescue and the Coastguard have all worked together to search for the missing man, who is in his 40s.
