Arrest made after three people stabbed in Wigton

Police have confirmed that three people have been stabbed in Wigton.

Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to the scene at 1:50pm.

A woman was was assaulted with a knife on Church Street, she was treated locally by the North West Air Ambulance Service.

Two men were also assaulted on King Street.

One of the men injured has been taken to Preston Royal Hospital with injuries not believe to be life threatening.

The other man has been taken to Blackpool Victoria hospital.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested.

Officers are not looking for anybody else in connection to the incident and are working to understand what happened and why.

Police have taped off the road between the Monument and Lidl in Wigton.
