Shed fire at North West Community Campus could've been 'catastrophic'

Police Scotland are investigating a fire that broke out in the grounds of a new multi million pound school in Dumfries.

The blaze was discovered in the early hours of 22 July in a wooden shed at the North West Community Campus on Alloway Road.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage to find the cause of the fire.

The shed was completely destroyed and nearby metal cladding on the campus itself was damaged.

If the flames had taken hold of the main building it could have been 'catastrophic' Credit: Dumfries and Galloway Police
