An interview with one of the last remaining Spitfire pilots
As part of our commemorations of the 75th anniversary of D-day, we have been speaking to one of the last remaining Spitfire pilots who fought in the Second World War.
Sydney 'Jimmie' James was part of a squadron which 'spotted' German gun positions so they could be shelled by Allied warships.
Despite intense anti-aircraft fire, Mr James would often have to fly for several minutes over one spot in order to photograph the Germans on the ground.
Jimmie, who now lives in Wigton in Cumbria, remembers every detail of his time during the war.
