Two arrested on suspicion of raping girl

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of raping a girl under the age of 16 in Appleby.

The incident was reported to the police shortly after 8:30pm on 30 May.

Two males, aged 14 and 15, are currently in police custody. They were also arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

Both teenagers are from outside of Cumbria.

Police investigating the serious sexual assault are asking for witnesses to come forward with information.
