Lake District launches 'AdventureSmart' campaign

People enjoying the coast and countryside of Lake District and Cumbria are being encouraged to be ‘AdventureSmart’ with the launch today of a new safety campaign.

The scheme was first launched in Wales in 2018.

The Lake District scheme will be similar, trying to communicate to the 19 million people who visit the region every year how to keep themselves safe when out walking on the fells.

The questions people are being asked to consider are:

  • Do I have the right gear?

  • Do I know what the weather will be like?

  • Am I confident I have the knowledge and skills for the day?
