Campaigners criticise plans for controversial coal mine
The recent decision to give the go ahead to a coal mine in west Cumbria has been disputed by campaigners.
Planners submitted an application for a mine, that would extract coal from the Irish sea, between Whitehaven and St Bees was approved by Cumbria County Council.
The decision was made during a meeting with Development Control and Regulation Committee in Kendal on Tuesday 19.
Climate expert, Dr. Laurie Michaelis, says emissions the mine could produce will contribute significantly to climate change.
