A Cumbrian MP will meet rail bosses today to discuss serious concerns about the closure of the Lakes Line, between Oxenholme and Windermere, over the Easter holidays.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron believes major disruption to services on will mean holidaymakers visiting the area will miss out.

Network Rail plan on carrying out maintenance work on both Easter Saturday and Sunday.

It's not the first time the Lakes Line has seen delays and cancellations - last year, Northern Rail called off all 34 timetabled services.

For almost eight weeks all trains were replaced with buses which sparked an inquiry into the summer of disruption.

Tim Farron hopes Network Rail bosses will re-think the decision in a meeting today.
