Police Scotland investigating suspicious fires
Police in Dumfries are investigating a number of suspicious fires and acts of vandalisms that were reported in the early hours of this morning.
Two overhead canopies were found to be on fire at Palmerston Café on Glasgow Street at around 4am.
This was followed by a report at 4:20am of a fire at the Polish Delicatessen shop on St Michael's Street. The canopy was also found to be on fire.
Just ten minutes later, a call was made to the police to a disturbance outside the premises of Benvenuto Takeaway on Eastfield Road.
A man was said to have been banging on the window which, on police arrival, had been broken.
Police say two nearby parked vans had smashed windows and there was evidence to show that someone had attempted to set fire to one of them.
Police are looking for a man wearing a branded baseball cap with over-ear headphones. He is described as carrying a ruck-sack and wearing dark trousers and a long sleeved top.
